The Purpose of Our Project

Why did we choose this project?

Our main goal is to help reduce the mosquito population in our, and rural, areas. Through brainstorming, we decided that a mosquito suction trap will be helpful in achieving our goal.

The primary objective of this research is to develop an effective mosquito trap

that integrates UV attraction, vacuum capture, and natural repellents such as

lemongrass and garlic. The overarching aim is to design a trap capable of efficiently

capturing mosquitoes while prioritizing the safety of vulnerable populations, including

pregnant women, infants, and pets. By incorporating natural repellents into the trap

design, this study endeavors to offer a sustainable and environmentally conscious

solution to mosquito control, thereby addressing the critical need for effective

strategies against mosquito-borne diseases.

The mosquito suction trap stands as a pivotal tool in safeguarding both the environment and local communities against the nuisance and health hazards posed by mosquitoes. Its efficacy lies in its ability to effectively capture mosquitoes without the need for harmful chemicals, thus mitigating environmental impacts commonly associated with traditional insect control methods. By targeting mosquitoes specifically, it minimizes collateral damage to beneficial insects, preserving ecological balance. At the local level, these traps offer relief to homeowners by reducing mosquito populations, thereby lowering the risk of vector-borne diseases and enhancing overall well-being. Furthermore, by curbing mosquito-borne illnesses such as malaria, dengue, and Zika virus, these traps play a crucial role in safeguarding human health, particularly in regions where such diseases are prevalent. In essence, the mosquito suction trap emerges as a symbiotic solution, fostering harmony between human habitation and the environment while promoting public health and safety.
